Ride with us #swipeitforward

Now until March 20th, Black Alliance for Justice Immigration is holding a metro card drive/funding drive for its #SwipeItForward action.

#SwipeItForward campaign is part of the movement to get rid of Broken Windows policing, drawing attention to the fact that farebeating is the #1 most common arrest in NY and 92% of those arrested are people of color. These arrests often result in jail time, heavy fines, and can result in deportation for non-citizens. Meanwhile, the real crime is the high price of a subway or bus ride that keeps working class New Yorkers from being able to move around their own city.

You can donate your MetroCards by bringing them to the Kensington International Women’s Day Speak-Out on Wednesday March 8th at 6:00pm or at the next Occupy Kensington meeting on Sunday, March 12th at 7:30pm. If you can’t attend either event drop them off with an OK member (email occupy11218@gmail.com).
